Paratroopers hide-out crypt of St. Cyril and Methodius Cathedral 1942
OVERVIEW:
Explore the hidden corners of Prague with this immersive 4-hour tour focusing on the heroic Operation Anthropoid and the Czech resistance during World War II. Led by a passionate, English-speaking guide, you’ll visit significant historical sites such as the Ďáblice cemetery, home to mass graves and memorials honoring victims of both WWII and Communist repression, and the Kobylisy shooting range, where members of the Czech resistance were executed by Nazi forces. You’ll also stop at Heydrich’s Curve, the site of the infamous assassination of Nazi official Reinhard Heydrich on May 27, 1942, and see the new monument dedicated to the teenage girl who aided his assassins. The tour includes a visit to St. Cyril and Methodius Cathedral, both inside and out, where the final stand of Heydrich’s assassins took place, along with a stop at the National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror, which features a permanent exhibition detailing this gripping chapter of history. Throughout, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the bravery and sacrifice of the Czechoslovak resistance.
